Grupo de Adocao: Labours of Love Adoption (LOLA)

Labours of Love Adoption (LOLA)

Share and Learn Group

If you are an adoptive parent of a child from birth to 12, or a potential adoptive parent, I would love to hear from you! I would like to start a group in the Oakville area for adoptive parents, wishing to meet others....to talk, share, learn, laugh, and cry if needed! Meetings will take place at an Oakville Parent-Child Centre location, time and details to be determined. I am an adoptive Mom, and author of "Labours of Love" Canadians Talk About Adoption, also becoming active in the adoption community. Please contact me with your interest in becoming part of a group of this nature...I hope to establish this group for a meeting in April 2009.

Look forward to your interest!

Oki Sushi

Outbreak of E. coli in Southern Ontario

Recebi essa mensagem hoje de manha no meu email e nem vou traduzir:

Outbreak of E. coli in Southern Ontario

Ottawa, November 11, 2008 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is informing the public of its investigation into potential food sources linked to an E. coli outbreak in the Niagara, Halton, Waterloo and Guelph areas of Ontario.

The actual source of the E. coli has not yet been definitively identified. Canadians are reminded that the best way to prevent foodborne illness is by handling their food safely. If you believe you are infected with E. coli you should not prepare food for others; if you must, you are advised to wear disposable gloves.

Food Safety Investigation in Southern Ontario

The CFIA and the Public Health Agency of Canada are working closely with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as well as local officials to investigate this situation. Once an illness pattern was identified that could be linked to food, the CFIA immediately began its investigation of potential foodborne sources.

Although no common food source has yet been confirmed, local and provincial investigators along with CFIA are studying whether the outbreak is linked to lettuce. The traceback investigation is ongoing to see if any concerns are identified along the supply chain. The CFIA will continue to assess and pursue all other potential sources that may be identified as a result. If a food source is determined, and if there continues to be a human health risk, the CFIA will take appropriate actions which could include removing any remaining product from the marketplace and advising consumers.

For more information, consumers can call the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342 / TTY 1-800-465-7735 (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday to Friday).
